The HONOR initiative (Healthier Options NORfolk) is the brainchild of Breckland Council which rewards businesses that demonstrate a commitment to providing healthy eating options on their menu.
Specific criteria which need to be met in order to achieve HONOR certification includes: offering foods with reduced salt content and fat content, and enabling customers to swap food items for healthier alternatives, such as chips for salad or cake for fruit.
The free scheme is open to all food businesses with a Food Hygiene Rating score of 3, 4 or 5. Businesses can become HONOR accredited after completing a self-assessment questionnaire and speaking to Breckland Council officers. Successful food businesses are provided with a certificate, window sticker to promote their commitment to customers and recognition on Breckland Council’s website.
