Common Sense Compliance Ltd is an International provider of food hygiene, health & safety, fire management and leisure advice.

Common Sense Compliance has a growing client base servicing clients throughout the UK and Internationally. Our business is fundamentally built upon two key criteria; our people and the simplicity of the products and software that we develop. Combining this with the commitment and expertise of our experienced consultants and dedication of our support staff we regularly exceed client expectations.

Our company’s philosophy is to work in partnership with our clients to develop a  ‘top down’ safety culture.  We achieve this by developing plain speaking, tailored management systems; providing dynamic, bespoke training; comprehensive auditing programmes and our cloud based software complyforce.

Meet the Team:

CSC was formed in 2009 by Lee Matthews and Nick Tilley. The head office is based near Bath in Somerset, but our team of consultants are based throughout the whole of the UK.

CSC has gone from strength to strength over the years, CSC has built up a strong team of both consulting and operational staff that work closely with our impressive client base. The operational team are based in the Head office near Bath with the majority of the consulting team being based remotely, so they can best support our wide-ranging client base.

Lee Matthews

MANAGING DIRECTOR

Prior to founding CSC Lee started his career in the commercial world of Environmental Health in 2001 as an Administration Assistant.  His natural leadership skills and passion resulted in him rapidly progressing in the industry and between 2001 and 2009 Lee held a number of senior managerial roles within both SME and corporate businesses.

In 2014 Lee graduated from the Goldman Sachs 10,000 small businesses programme at Aston University. The programme brings together leaders of high-growth small businesses who are creating jobs and driving economic growth throughout the UK.

A keen golfer, Lee can often be found with his clubs tackling 18 holes come rain or shine

Nick Tilley

DIRECTOR

As a Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) and Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner (CSHP), Nick Tilley has supported many businesses over the years in these specialist fields.

Nick has specialised in Food Safety, Health and Safety and Fire management within the hotel, catering, hospitality and leisure industries for over thirty years; both as a regional EHP working within blue chip companies or as a consultant.  These roles have been both working at a technical level with clients and also at a senior management level; managing a team of professional EHPs’ and operating businesses.

Steve Broadbelt

PRINCIPAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH CONSULTANT

Steve joined CSC in 2016 as a Regional Consultant and has since progressed to the company’s Principal Consultant.

Steve heads up the CSC consultancy team and audit consistency and quality processes. Since joining CSC, Steve has provided expert consultancy and training to our clients,  particularly focussing on Serviced Apartment and Aparthotel operators. Prior to joining CSC, Steve spent 20 years as and Environmental Health Practitioner with a number of local authorities.

Steve’s original background was in farming, when he set up a livestock farm with his father in Lincolnshire when he left school. He is a keen walker and cyclist and walks/cycles every day to keep fit. Steve is also an avid gardener and relaxes in the garden with a beer when he has the time

Nikki Ellis

BUSINESS SUPPORT MANAGER

Nikki joined the CSC team in 2016 to support the marketing and admin processes across the business. Having worked across a range of small and large business’s in both senior marketing roles and administrative roles Nikki brings a wide range of skills to the team to support Lee in the day to day smooth running of CSC.  

Nikki enjoys playing netball in her free time and is a volunteer with St John Ambulance.

Anthony Egan

OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Anthony has been CSC’s Operations Coordinator since 2017. Anthony has worked across a wide range of industries both nationally and internationally in various operational roles.

Anthony is a keen surfer, when British waves permit, and enjoys watching all types of motor sports.
