  RIDDOR Change - 06 April 2012

  Subject to parliamentary approval, RIDDOR's over three day injury reporting requirement will change. From then the trigger point will increarse from over three days to over seven days.

  New Fire Guidance on Purpose-Built Flats

  A new guidance document on fire safety for blocks of flats has been published, the new guidance will run alongside existing advice on housing.
  
  Over the years the application of The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 (FSO) has proved probematic for the industry: and has led to widely varying outcomes.
  
  The 192 page document covers topics ranging from escape routes, door insultation and sprinklers, to firefighter access, the needs of older and disabled people, and combating vandals and arsonists.  As well as general apartment complexes, it also covers flats in sheltered housing schemes and accomodation for students or workers.

  Man Cautioned for Selling Rook Meat

  A 45-year-old Isle of Wight man has been formally cautioned after he illegally killed and then sold on rooks for human consumption.
  
  The man, from Ryde, was arrested in June on suspicion of committing offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, following a joint investigation by Hampshire Constabulary and Natural England, an independent government advisory body.

  Fire Safety Breaches in London Care Homes Exposed

  A number of care homes in London are still not getting the message about their fire safety responsibilities, according to a BBC report.

  Since 2010 some 29 care homes have had enforcement action taken against them, according to the investigation.  Some homes having upto eight individual breaches of fire safety legislation.

  British girl, 3 plunges to her death from Flat

  A toddler from Britain has died after falling from her parents' 13th floor luxury apartment in Singapore.

  The company managing the block refused to comment, whilst the police investigation was continuing.
